All About Cricket

Cricket is a sport played in many countries, and it is the second most popular sport in the world behind soccer. It originated in Southeast England in the 16th century and evolving into a formal sport by the 18th century. It spread globally with the expansion of the British empire. The first test match was played in 1877 between England and Australia. The first international match was played between USA and Canada in 1844 in New York.

In International cricket, matches are played in three formats.

The shortest format

It is the Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), which is played with a maximum of 20 overs per side and 1 over is 6 balls. It was introduced by the England and Wales cricket Board in 2003. The first international match was played in 2005 between Australia and New Zealand.

The second format

It is the One Day Internationals (Odi), which is played with a maximum of 50 overs per side. The first international match was played in 1971 between Australia and England.

The longest format

It is the Test match. The match can last for up to 5 days and 4 innings (2 per team). Both teams are wearing white jerseys representing their countries. The first test match was played in 1877 between England and Australia.
